OCTOBER 2ND - 4TH, 2000 CAESAR'S TAHOE HOTEL
After registration, most of Monday afternoon and evening saw participants renewing old acquaintances and meeting new contacts, in other words, networking and intelligence gathering. A familiar face to many, who had not been to a WSATI Seminar since 1993, was former Southern Chapter President Dennis Howe from Irvine PD. ![]() On Tuesday night there was a hosted bar and buffet dinner served in the Circus Maximus Showroom to give the participants an additional chance to network with one another.
On Wednesday night there was the annual banquet and closing ceremonies, also held in the Circus Maximus Showroom. WSATI Southern Chapter Vice President Bill Lovold, the chairman of the 2001 WSATI Training Seminar, spoke about the seminar that will be held in Palm Springs, California at the Doral Palm Springs Resort from September 30th to October 3rd, 2001. A golf tournament will be held in conjunction with the WSATI seminar and will be hosted by State Farm Insurance. As Bill mentioned, for the participants who enjoyed the after-hours activities of Caesar's, Palm Springs also has casinos. There were numerous door prizes handed out, even if Mike Miller could not tell a blue ticket from a gray ticket (it must have been the lighting). It was a good thing they had a different sequential series. Not only was Mike having trouble calling out the numbers, audience members were having difficulties reading their winning (or in some case, losing) ticket numbers. As one of the wives said at the next table, "it's hard to believe these guys read ID numbers because they can't even read six numbers on a ticket." We explained to her that anything with less than 17 digits is hard to immediately identify.
There were numerous vendors, including ChoicePoint (formerly DBT Online), LoJack Corporation, Merlin Information Services, Orion Electronics, and WSATI Wear. Also on hand, handing out 3M Corporation materials, was Tracie Mortenson. Frank Graber was also there, not only selling OCATT memorabilia but anything that any other Task Force had on the market. Karen Metz was also selling IAATI related merchandise. Due to a scheduling conflict, longtime WSATI Seminar vendor and supporter Lee S. Cole (& Associates) was unable to attend. A lot of the credit for the success of the seminar is due to the following 2000 Calendar Year Northern Chapter Officers
