| Each of the Officers and Deputies listed above were
honored for recovering the most stolen vehicles at their agencies during
1999. Combined, these officers recovered 271
vehicles in 1999, valued at over $2,068,074
and arrest- ed 76 people.
Officer Bill Allison of the Garden Grove Police Department was recognized for not only being the 1998 Officer of the Year, but also having the most recoveries in 1999. Due to a rule not allowing an officer to receive the award two years in a row (or be included in the top five officers), Officer Allison did not win the 1999 Officer of the Year Award. He will be eligible again for the 2000 Officer of the Year Award. The Top Five Honorees were: Officer James Geist of
the Santa Ana Police Department was honored as the
Officer Aaron Kennedy of the Placentia Police Department was honored as the Officer recovering the second most stolen vehicles in the county. Officer Chris Nyhus of the Buena Park Police Department was honored as the Officer recovering the third most stolen vehicles in the county. Deputy Lance Glogowsky of the Orange County Sheriffs Department North Bureau was honored as the Officer recovering the fourth most stolen vehicles in the county. Officer Craig Koki of the Orange Police Department was honored as the Officer recovering the fifth most stolen vehicles in the county. Special thanks to the following organizations for participating and sponsor- ing the Orange County Auto Theft Advisory Committee (A.T.A.C.) and its Officer of the Year Program; as well as a thank you to the Santa Ana Elks Lodge for their hospitality over the past ten years. |
