INVESTIGATORS ASSOCIATION SOUTHERN CHAPTER TRAINING MEETING / LUNCHEON |
January 20, 2005 - Holiday Inn - Laguna Hills
| Outgoing 2004 President Phil
Macklin (Allstate Insurance) started the meeting
by asking everyone to join Lou Koven
(LAPD BAD-CATS) in the pledge of allegiance.
Phil then welcomed everyone to the Holiday Inn. Phil then called 2005 WSATI Southern Chapter President Frank Graber (Fullerton Police [retired]) up to the podium. Phil then presented Frank with his 2005 Presidential name plate and turned the meeting over to Frank. Frank then presented Phil with his 2004 Past President name plate as well as a plaque thanking Phil for his contributions as President in 2004, as well as acknowledging Phil's leadership during the very successful 2004 WSATI Training Seminar held in San Diego.
Frank then introduced the 2005 WSATI Southern Chapter Officers: Steve Torres, Vice President,
DMV Canoga Park
Frank then introduced the Southern Chapter Past Presidents in attendance: Joan Pitts (1987), Skip Davidson (1991), Marianne Finney (1993), Terry Cramer (1995), Dennis Frias (1997), Dave Dempsey (1998), Gary Labb (2000), Bill Lovold (2001), and Lou Koven (2002). Frank then had the members in attendance do self introductions. It was great to see some faces that we haven't seen in quite awhile (Gary Christensen, Jerry Park, Jay Stayner) and also some very new faces attending for the first time (Jon Haught). Frank then introduced the guest speaker, Vaughan Clarke, of Appian Technologies. His instruction was on the background and use of license plate reader technology in assisting law enforcement. Vaughan's presentation included a Power Point presentation and movies portraying the use of LPR technology in Great Britain. Vaughan can be reached at (949) 851-1600 X25. Following Vaughan's presentation, Frank presented Vaughan with a thank you gift from WSATI.
Frank then opened up the floor for discussion. Frank then presided over the raffle. Following the raffle, a Mexican buffet lunch was provided by the Holiday Inn. The meeting was adjourned. |
