Welcome to all the new members joining us, Ed Delcoure (Sierra Madre PD), Demitra Lewis (OCDA), Jose Martinez (DMV El Monte), Joe Sherman (San Diego SD), and Chris Wiggins (Huntington Park PD), as well as several people we had not seen in awhile, Jerry Lay (LASD Retired) and Tom Conces (Harco National). Jim Williams (due to Rick's "excused absence") then presented Bud with his Past President name tag and also presented Bud a WSATI gift recognizing his 2007 presidency. Bud then explained to the attendees that he had taken a job with Remington Elsag. Bud then said he wished to introduce the first speaker, his boss, Tony Roberts from Remington Elsag, who was going to give a presentation on license plate readers. Tony's presentation probably answered any questions that anyone had about the operation of LPRs. Tony offered demonstration rides to anyone interested after the meeting. Bud then introduced Kyle Colwell from GPSIT who gave a presentation on tracking devices. Kyle was able to show the audience some new tracking devices as well as "real time" computer tracking of the devices. This is becoming a fast and profitable crime that is hitting cities all over the nation. Bud then announced that the lunch was ready. The attendees were then served an Italian Buffet, with three different pasta dishes with different cheese and meat sauces, salads and dessert. During lunch Bud Hood presided over the WSATI raffle. Bud Hood announced that the next meeting would be on March 20, 2008 at a location to be determined.
The meeting was adjourned. |
