Position: Inside SIU Adjuster
Position Summary:
Under general supervision the Inside SIU Adjuster will
be responsible for accurate detection and in-depth investigation of questionable
claims. Adjusts, evaluates claims and prepares recommendations to
management. Coordinate efforts with industry Special Investigation
units, claims personnel, counsel, law enforcement agencies, NICB or others.
May require testifying in cases where law enforcement agencies pursue prosecution.
May develop program awareness or conduct training seminars on the detection,
deterrence, and prevention of fraud; may conduct investigative research
for company personnel and agents. The position is an inside position
located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough investigation of questionable claims,
including recorded statements, database searches, physical damage analysis
and development of evidence necessary to determine the legitimacy of a
claim
• At the direction of management, assist company personnel
with investigations and the gathering of information needed to arrive at
proper claims resolution.
• Prepare timely status reports to Management
• Analyze Company claim data to identify trends and
patterns
• Work with law enforcement, attorneys and insurance
agencies
• Completion of NICB and State DOI questionable claim
submissions
• Coordinate and control investigations through outside
vendors and experts when necessary and appropriate.
• Adjust claims in compliance with State DOI requirements.
• Any additional tasks assigned by management
Requirements:
• 4 Year Degree or a combination of education and a
minimum of 2 years experience in the handling of automobile property and
injury claims.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of NICB
indicators.
• Prior auto property, injury, first and third party
SIU experience, law enforcement task force and/or relevant investigation
experience preferred.
• Experience with Multi-State claims, compliance and
fraud-related laws preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate, negotiate and work in partnership
with others.

Unit. Comprehensive knowledge of State Fraud Statutes and Policy contracts
across all businesses (e.g. Property, Casualty, Commercial).
Experience: 5-8 years experience in special investigations
involving insurance investigations, private investigations or law enforcement
investigations and/or Property/Casualty field claims handling experience.
Skills/Competencies: Oral and written communication
skills for interaction with vendors, other SIU associates, SIU management,
and other areas of claims; negotiation skills for vendor management, program
management and/or claims quality calibration.
