Project Time & Cost, Inc., an Atlanta, GA based international cost and forensic engineering firm is currently seeking Fire Explosion Consultants for various locations.  These are a full-time, salaried positions.

Summary of Role:
At the direction of the Regional Manager and with minimal supervision, investigates various incident types (based on qualifications) which may include but not be limited to Cause and Origin of fires and explosions, SIU related investigations, insurance fraud, and other investigations contingent on the needs of our clients and business unit.

Responsibilities:
*        Receives assignment, plans type of investigation and equipment needed.
*        Interviews and takes statements from witnesses as warranted.
*        Interviews any individuals who might provide information regarding the loss, i.e., owners, building managers, maintenance supervisors, tenants, employees, security guards, residents, 
          neighbors, creditors, etc.
*        Conducts on-site investigation coordinating with local law enforcement agencies when required.
*        Collects, retains, and stores samples, evidence, and/or other artifacts associated with such investigations, pursuant to business unit policy/procedure.
*        Analyzes investigative information and reaches logical conclusion of cause and effect.
*        Provides factual and/or expert testimony at hearings and trials.
*        Prepares reports for clients.
*        Conducts business development (marketing) activities at the direction of business unit managers to develop and increase market share.
*        Upholds the company's policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
*        May participate in special projects or perform other duties as requested.

Education:
High school diploma plus law enforcement, fire fighting, or other investigative training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Some college is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
 Must be very analytical and detail oriented.
 Strong knowledge of techniques for determining cause and origin of fires and explosions.
 Good investigative skills.
 Excellent communication and listening skills.
 Ability to plan and organize work and to work independently.
 Basic understanding of insurance coverages.
 Computer skills.
 Ability to operate measuring and sampling equipment.

Experience:
Previous experience as a city, county, state, or federal criminal investigator, or an insurance investigator.  Some positions may require proven experience as an expert witness for court appearances.

Decision Making/Interaction:
Regular interaction with management at client companies, with insured, witnesses and others connected with losses in question, decisions often require analysis and consideration of conflicting information.

Special Requirements/Certifications/Qualifications:
Must be bondable and eligible for licensing as a private investigator where so required, some jurisdictions require written testing for licensing.  Must be available for overnight travel and willing to work weekends and holidays.  Special training will be provided by PT&C Forensic Consulting Services.  In order to progress, training and performance requirements must be met.

Physical Requirements:
 Ability to talk and hear.
 Ability to see and read.
 Reaching and manual dexterity for operating computer and sampling equipment.
 Requires the ability to lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to 50 lbs.; distance carried and weight will vary according to site.
 Climbing ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling crouching and crawling may be necessary during on-site investigations.
 May be exposed to all kinds of weather, noise, vibration, fumes, dust and poor ventilation.
 Hazardous conditions could include moving parts of machinery, electrical shock, high exposed places, explosives or toxic compounds.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: 
*Investigates economic fraud cases ranging from misdemeanor frauds through complex felony fraud cases while working under the direction of an assigned Investigator. 
*Prepares reports to be filed that will lead to the arrest of those suspected of criminal activity. 
*Interviews victims and witnesses to obtain detail, statements, and develop leads, etc. 
*Analyzes financial documents and related records to establish or facilitate in the determination of loss amounts and methods of operation of suspects. Assists with preparation of charts, diagrams, and other visual aids to demonstrate method of operation and link suspects, victims, and financial institutions. 
*Testifies in court as related to assigned economic fraud cases. 
*Utilizes computer systems to access and retrieve information from local, State and Federal computer databases. Evaluates information retrieved and takes appropriate action. 
*Works in collaboration with the investigator in the preparation and writing of search warrants. 
*Searches for, identifies, seizes and books evidence into property. Request forensic analyses of financial records, medical records, motor vehicle records, and other documents needed for evidence in assigned fraud cases. 
*Prepares a variety of reports, exhibit lists, declarations, court documents, and maintains a variety of records, logs and files. 
*Maintains knowledge of current fraud case law, investigative and evidence collection techniques, and office policies and procedures. Attends additional job specific training courses, updates and seminars as required. 
*Works in collaboration with the investigator (s) conducting investigations from start to finish on various financial crimes. Works in collaboration with prosecutors and investigators throughout the entire case, from investigative stage through completion of resulting trial and sentencing. 
*Accompanies and assists law enforcement personnel in searches of crime scenes for evidence gathering, analyzes and preserves evidence concerning crimes and complaints. 
*Operates technical investigative equipment such as tape recorders, cameras, and electronic sound equipment. 
*Interviews and obtains statements from victims, witnesses and informants. Develops contacts so that information may be obtained concerning crime and requests subpoenas for witnesses. 
*Demonstrates investigative enthusiasm, innovation and/or creativity. 
*Has evidence of excellent collaborative skills and self-improvement. 
*Has effective and diplomatic written and oral communication skills. 
*Is approachable, flexible, organized, and self motivated.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION 

*Five years of experience in investigation, with at least two years of experience performing investigations of financial matters. 
*Requires successful completion of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) technical courses in investigative and evidence collection techniques within nine months of appointment.
