(Fullerton Police [retired]) welcomed everyone to the Grand Event Center,
our newest meeting venue. Frank then requested that Past President
Gary
Labb (Santa Ana PD/OCATT) lead the members
in the pledge of allegiance.
Frank spoke of the recent passing of longtime WSATI and IAATI Western Regional Chapter member Jerry Boyer. Refer to http://wsati.org/boyer.html for further information. Frank then introduced the 2005 Southern Chapter Officers: Steve Torres, Vice President,
DMV Canoga Park
Frank then introduced the Southern Chapter Past Presidents in attendance: Ted Saraf (1992), Dave Dempsey (1998), Gary Labb (2000), and Phil Macklin (2004). Frank then had the members in attendance do self introductions. Frank then introduced the guest speaker, Greg Barnett, of Barnett Automotive Engineering. Greg spoke about auto body shop fraud.
Preceding lunch, Frank presided over the raffle. Frank announced that an Italian style luncheon was ready and invited those attending to go to the serving table. Following lunch, Frank had members in attendance speak about cases or items of importance. Several people spoke, including Earl Gunnerson of the Crime Prevention Program (CPP) of Southern California and Ted Saraf of LoJack. Earl wanted to let Investigators know that there were still some open slots for the Caterpillar Training that will take place on June 27th and 28th in Whittier and June 29th and 30th in Riverside. Anyone interested should contact CPP as soon as possible. CPP's new website is now on the internet. Ted spoke about the new LoJack for motorcycles product soon to be available in California. Any questions regarding LoJack can be directed to Ted Saraf or information can be obtained from the website http://www.lojack.com. Frank announced that the next meeting would be held in San Diego at a new venue, the Bali Hai Restaurant. The meeting was adjourned. |
