Case Detective Mike O'Boyle - (951) 826–3263

During the month of April 2009, an automotive shop on Main Street in Riverside closed down.  Unfortunately the owner took several customer vehicles with him to parts unknown.  I was able to get one car returned which someone dropped off at the car stereo shop at 5 points (La Sierra and Hole).  The shop owner made statements to the victim he was opening a new business somewhere near Tyler Street.  It’s possible the car may be at one of the small lots around 5 points.

Investigation revealed that both cars were last seen Friday evening, April 24th, 2009 at approximately 1900 hours being loaded by two men into a large carry-all truck on the corner of Monrovia and 18th in Costa Mesa. The truck was seen shortly after on eastbound 19th street heading toward the northbound 55 freeway. The truck was described to be white, in excellent condition, with unknown CA license plate information. It had a partial name of "Riverside" on the side of the transportation trailer. There were two men seen, one African American man, possibly in his 50s, about 160 lbs, with a ball cap and a goatee. This man was the driver of the vehicle. The other man was described to be Caucasian, grey hair, 6 foot tall with a slender build in his 60s.  If you have any information, please contact Detective Mitch Phillips at (714) 754-5379.  Both vehicle are described as a 1955 Red over White Matador Chevy Bel Air Convertible CA. license #8A7134 VIN #VC55F193257. The 1957 Turquoise Chevy Bel Air Convertible  Ca. license 57TPLS VIN #VC57B176055.  Both classic cars were taken from the area of Monrovia Street and 18th street in the City of Costa Mesa, CA. The incident occurred between Friday April 24th and April 25th, 2009 between 1900 - 0600 hours.

We are seeking any information and assistance regarding the theft and whereabouts of both vehicles, which  were taken simultaneously from the same location. I have pursued several investigative leads across the United Sates  with negative results. Both vehicles are very distinct and can be positively identified. I'm requesting fellow classic car enthusiasts to please be cognizant at various classic car shows across the United States in hopes of locating both vehicles. If you have any information that can help with the assist and recovery, please contact me using the information below. Your identity can remain anonymous. 1969 Mercedes 280SL
VIN/12011672
LIC/368VXH (CA)
DOT/031909
COLOR/Ivory

Car was in mint condition with dark tan interior.  All original parts.  Automatic Transmission.
There was a blue Kona sticker on the driver's side front windshield.

Stolen from 4200 Block of Redwood Ave, Marina Del Rey, CA on March 19th at 6:30 pm.

The car was stolen by 2 men who drove up in a maroon Chevy Geo.  This is an unusual color for a Geo and was probably a custom paint job.  The entire thing was recorded on a security camera.

Thank you for your help, we are praying we find it.

Sincerely, Jon Rahman

Good evening, Officer Thompson.  I  was the victim of a burglary here in Tucson last week.  In the process, the perpetrators stole my 1965 Chevy C-10 1/2 ton pick up.  This truck was originally purchased by my father in 1965 and due to his recent passing, the truck was left to me.  I would like to request your services, please, in placing the attached pictures of the truck in your officers briefing paperwork, if you would.

As you can imagine, being the 2nd owner of a 1965 vehicle, it has great sentiment and I would like to put as many eyes out there on the streets as possible to recover my father's truck.

I would like to thank you in advance for your efforts and assistance on recovering my cherished pickup.

Thank you, Scott McCaw

Hi Gary,

Although this car may not fit the strict definition of a classic, it could lead to some of the other true classics that are on your list. These cars are highly sought after, Jay Leno and Sean Penn own one (both stolen and recovered).  It was the fastest accelerating production car of the 80's, 13.9 seconds in the quarter mile.

Here is the information on my car for your consideration.

Year, Make, Model: 1987 Buick Regal T-Type
VIN: 1G4GJ1172HP430267
License: 2GTG896
Vehicle Color: Dark blue
Where Stolen: Reseda, CA.
Date of Theft: 10/19/08
Reporting Agency and their Case Number
LAPD West Valley / 08-10-31065
Reporting Agency Contact Number:  818-374-7756

I know it has been a while since my beloved Porsche has been stolen, and I know that the chances of getting it back are slim, but please add my car to the cars that had been stolen list.

1982 Porsche 911SC Sedan
VIN: WP0AA0910CS120208
LIC: 4PLS707 (CA)
Vehicle Color: Black
Where Stolen: Hollywood Hills, CA
Date of Theft: 08/13/08
Reporting Agency and Case #: LAPD North Hollywood Case # 081521174 Reporting Agency Contact Number: 818-623-4045
Further Description of the Vehicle: Although it was a 911sc, the rear badge said Carrera, something the previous owner did and I never bothered to change.  The rims were the Fuchs 6” front and 8” rear. One of the rear wheels had a polished rim while the other was regular anodized aluminum as the others.  The car was slightly lowered and the rear wheels slightly spaced so it had more aggressive stance than the average 911 at the time. The interior was black leather with sport seats. The driver side showed some wear but the passenger seat looked brand new.  The dash did have the notorious crack that all 911s get.
Unique Identifiers: Driver side rear quarter window had a POC sticker. The only thing that made this car (visually) different than any other black SC was the flat black tape (about 1” wide) stretching across the forward leading edge of the hood.  It was my attempt to cover some stone chips.

Thank You,

Radu Muntean
