TRAINING MEETING / LUNCHEON
January 15, 2009 - Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que -
Outgoing 2008 WSATI Southern Chapter President Rick Greenwood (Riverside Police) welcomed everyone to Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, and introduced himself as the 2008 Southern Chapter President. This venue appears to be a hit with the attendees as it became a standing room only affair.
Rick then requested that 1988 WSATI Past President Bill Robertson (NICB) lead the attendees in the pledge of allegiance.
Rick then introduced Incoming 2009 WSATI Southern Chapter President Jim Williams (Long Beach Police) and presented Jim with his Presidential name tag. Jim then introduced the 2009 WSATI Southern Chapter Officers and presented them with their name tags:

Jim then had Rick Greenwood return to the podium where Jim presented Rick with his Presidential Thank You gift as well as his Past President name tag.
Jim then spoke about upcoming training at the WSATI meetings. Jim said he was going to try to have training that could fill some of the needs of the new law enforcement detectives as well as the new insurance SIU personnel. He said he has found that many of the new detectives don't seem to understand some of the basics so he will try to cover some of the topics they are lacking.
Jim then introduced Guest Speaker NICB Agent Mark Winter. Mark gave a PowerPoint presentation on NICB Insurance Crime Training.
At the conclusion of Mark's presentation, Jim asked everyone in the room to introduce themselves to the others in attendance. This took some time due to the great turnout of attendees for the meeting. There were a lot of new faces that came to the meeting as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time.
WSATI Southern Chapter Vice President John Bartolone spoke about the upcoming 2010 WSATI Training Seminar. He said that the WSATI Southern Chapter would be hosting the Seminar and that we were in the planning stages. He invited any of the attendees who wished to become involved in putting on the Seminar to contact him or Jim Williams.
2009 IAATI Western Regional Chapter President Rick Greenwood announced that the IAATI Western Regional Chapter (IAATI WRC) would be co-hosting the 2009 International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) Annual Training Seminar in Denver, Colorado with the Colorado Auto Theft Investigators (CATI). The information is posted on the CATI website. The seminar is scheduled to take place on August 9th-14th, 2009.
Jim then advised the information regarding the 2009 Annual WSATI Training Seminar (hosted by the Central Chapter) could be located on the WSATI website. It will be held at South Lake Tahoe on October 6th, 7th, and a half day on the 8th. A golf tournament is scheduled to take place on October 5th.
Jim then asked if anyone had anything they'd like to discuss with the other attendees.
Several of the attendees brought up topics for discussion. Due to the sensitive nature of the discussion, you should contact the attendees directly regarding information shared at the meeting as it will not be posted here.

WSATI Southern Chapter President Jim Williams then presided over the raffle, assisted by WSATI Southern Chapter Treasurer Tim Glover. There were a lot of different winners, and at the same time many were upset with some of the repeat winners. If you want to be like them, do what they do... buy extra raffle tickets...
Jim then announced that the lunch was ready. The attendees were then served a BBQ buffet, which everyone appeared to enjoy and take a trip back for seconds (and for some, thirds)...Tri-tip, chicken, a variety of ribs, hot links, salad, potato salad, cole slaw, beans, and corn...and some great biscuits.
Following lunch, the meeting was adjourned.
