TRAINING MEETING / LUNCHEON
January 17, 2013 - The Old Spaghetti Factory - Fullerton
Incoming 2013 WSATI Southern Chapter Vice President Tim Jackson (AAA Southern California SIU) welcomed everyone to the meeting and to the newest WSATI meeting venue, the Old Spaghetti Factory in Fullerton. Tim advised everyone that 2013 WSATI Southern Chapter President Rob Manning (LASD) was unable to attend the meeting. Tim apologized for not being able to do the Pledge of Allegiance because the restaurant did not have a flag and WSATI's flag did not made the transfer to the new officers.
Due to the large crowd attending this meeting, extra time had to be taken to increase the seating capacity before the training could begin.
Tim introduced the incoming 2013 WSATI Southern Chapter Officers who were in attendance:
Jackson (AAA Southern California SIU)
President Rob Manning (LASD) and Legal Counsel Richard Knapp (Knapp Law Firm, LLP) could not attend the meeting.
Tim presented the new Officers with their 2013 name tags.
Tim then introduced Past WSATI Southern Chapter Presidents who were in attendance:
Bill Robertson (1988), Skip Davidson (1991), Ted Saraf (1992), Dennis Frias (1997), Gary Labb (2000), Bill Lovold (2001), Lou Koven (2002), and Tim Glover (2012).
Tim then had 2012 WSATI Southern Chapter President Tim Glover come to the front of the room. Tim presented Tim Glover with his Past President name tag and a thank you gift for being President in 2012.
Tim said that there was a 2013 WSATI Training Seminar Committee Meeting on January 9th and things were progressing well for the 2013 Training Seminar which will be taking place on May 20-24, 2013 in San Diego. If you have an interest in being part of the group helping to put on the 2013 Training Seminar in San Diego, please click here. Tim said as the information is available it will be placed on the WSATI website.
Tim then introduced the Guest Speaker, CHP / TRAP South Investigator Todd Wolf who gave a presentation on Vehicle Sub Leasing and Title Washing. It appears that many in the room were doing investigations involving Sub Leasing and Title Washing as Todd's presentation was met with great attention and questions. Todd gave an excellent presentation combining multi-media and lecture.
Following Todd's presentation, Tim said that there were some "new" WSATI Southern Chapter shirts available and presented one to Todd for speaking at the meeting. To see some of the available shirts, please go to WSATIWear. Please contact Rob Manning at his listed email address for current pricing on the shirts.
Tim requested that the attendees do self introductions to assist with possible networking. He also requested that any attendees bring up cases of interest to the group.
WSATI 2000 Past President / Current Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana PD / OCATT - Retired) advised the attendees of the importance of filling in the sign-in forms as they are transferred to the online encrypted roster on the website. Gary then gave the attendees the password to access the encrypted roster. Gary said that the roster was a great networking tool. Gary also spoke about the WSATI Classic Cars page on the WSATI website, asking the attendees to look at the almost 260 classic cars currently listed.
Several other attendees spoke about cases that will not be discussed in the minutes. It was good to have so many of the attendees share information with the other attendees.
Prior to lunch, the raffle was conducted by WSATI Southern Chapter Treasurer Brian Yori (LAPD / TRAP) and WSATI Southern Chapter Sergeant at Arms Shawn Robison (Workmen's Auto Insurance SIU). There were a lot of great raffle prizes.
The Old Spaghetti Factory staff then served a great luncheon. The waiters and waitresses really did a fine job of taking care of the needs of the attendees.
Following the luncheon, the meeting was adjourned by Tim Jackson. The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Covina Woman's Club in Covina.
There were some new faces that came to the meeting as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time. This meeting drew people from as far as Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino County. Thank you all for your attendance.
