Mick then introduced the Guest Speakers, Lt. Michael Octave and Sgt. Joe Telles (Los Angeles County TaskForce for Regional AutoTheft Prevention - TRAP), Lt. Gil Campa (Orange County Auto Theft Task Force - OCATT), Sgt. Sean Brown (Riverside County AutoTheft Interdiction Detail - RAID), and Lt. Following the Task Force presentation, Mick requested that Melissa Somers, Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Program (CPP) for the Construction Industry of Southern California, come to the front to present their Annual John Hootman Memorial Award.  Also coming forward was CPP of SoCal Board Member Dennis Frias and former Board President Wes May.  Both opened with a few words about what CPP does and the importance of the relationships with their law enforcement partners.  They both thanked law enforcement for their support of CPP and reminded them that CPP is a valuable resource available to them and any heavy equipment issues that they might come across.  Melissa spoke about the background of the Award.  Melissa then recognized past Award recipients in attendance. Melissa then spoke about the 2018 Award Recipient, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Rural Crime Unit Deputy Rob Oakleaf (Please refer to the link at John Hootman Memorial Award to read about the investigation).  She then called Rob up to the front to receive his Award.

Following the CPP presentation, Mick opened up the Roundtable Discussion.  Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana Police / OCATT [retired]) advised the attendees of the encrypted online networking roster and gave the attendees the password to allow them access to the roster.

Both Mick O'Neill and Rob Manning spoke about the 2019 WSATI Training Seminar, hosted by the Southern Chapter, which will take place October 13-17, 2018, at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley.  The preliminary information is posted on the WSATI website.  WSATI Southern Chapter is seeking manpower assistance and sponsorship support.

While waiting for Lucille's to set up the luncheon, the raffle was conducted by Mick O'Neill, with the help of Johnny Miyasaki, Melissa Somers, and Jesse Bravo.  The raffle helps raise money for WSATI funds that assist in putting on future seminars, as well as supporting events such as the San Diego and Orange County ATAC Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year programs.

Mick then invited those who purchased luncheon tickets to enjoy their lunch while networking with the others in the room.  A catered lunch was provided to the attendees by the staff from Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que.  This luncheon was enjoyed by the Meeting attendees.

There were several new faces that came to the meeting, as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time.  Thank you all for your attendance.

Mick announced the next meeting / luncheon would be held on March 21, 2019 at the LAPD Ahmanson Recruit Training Center.
