Johnny then led the attendees with the Pledge of Allegiance to the giant flag hanging in the room.

Johnny asked Associate Director Michael Octave (LASD / TRAP) to come up to the podium.  Michael introduced the new TRAP Commander, Captain Martin "Marty" Rodriguez (LASD), to the attendees.  Michael then presented Captain Rodriguez with some WSATI Southern Chapter "goodies" to welcome him to WSATI.

Johnny requested that Melissa Somers, Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Program (CPP) for the Construction Industry of Southern California, come to the front to present their Annual John Hootman Memorial Award.  Also coming forward was CPP of SoCal Board President Pat McCann (United Rentals).  Both opened with a few words about what CPP does and the importance of the relationships with their law enforcement partners.  They both thanked law enforcement for their support of CPP and reminded them that CPP is a valuable resource available to them and any heavy equipment issues that they might come across.  Melissa spoke about the background of the Award.  Melissa then recognized past Award recipients in attendance. Melissa then spoke about the 2019 Award Recipient, Riverside County Auto Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID).  She then called the RAID team up to the front to receive their Award.

Johnny then introduced the first two Guest Speakers, CarMax Loss Prevention Managers Ken Evans and J.J. Harrison.  Ken and J.J. gave an enlightening presentation about recent theft and fraud trends CarMax is encountering.

Johnny then introduced NICB Special Agent Lou Koven, who is assigned to the Foreign Entry and Recovery Team.  Lou  gave a presentation on the information available from NICB and CarFax to aid in investigations, either individually or together.

Johnny opened up the Roundtable Discussion.  Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana Police / OCATT [retired]) advised the attendees of the encrypted online networking roster and gave the attendees the password to allow them access to the roster.

Johnny then invited those who purchased luncheon tickets to enjoy their lunch while networking with the others in the room.  A catered lunch was provided to the attendees by the banquet staff of the Garden Grove Elks Lodge.  I did not see anyone leave hungry after consuming the prime rib and lemon chicken luncheon provided.

Following the luncheon, Johnny had Past President Mick O'Neill, come up to the front.  Johnny presented Mick with a block of wood as his thank you gift for being President in 2019.  Johnny then brought out the real thank you gift for Mick for being at the helm of the ship during 2019, which also included our WSATI Training Seminar in October.

Sergeant-at-Arms Luis Alvarez then conducted the raffle with the help of Melissa CastanedaMichael Octave, and Joe Starbird.  The raffle helps raise money for WSATI funds that assist in putting on future seminars, as well as supporting events such as the San Diego and Orange County ATAC Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year programs.

There were several new faces that came to the meeting, as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time.  Thank you all for your attendance.
