July 16, 2020 WSATI Training Meeting
Held Virtually on Zoom
Attendees were allowed access to the meeting early with the ability to see and hear others that they had not probably been able to see in approximately six months due to the two prior WSATI Training Meeting / Luncheons being cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions placed on WSATI and our hosting venues. Many people were seen who haven't been seen since the last WSATI Meeting / Luncheon held in Garden Grove on January 16, 2020.
WSATI Southern Chapter Legal Advisor Richard Knapp (Knapp & Spurlock, LLP) welcomed everyone to the meeting in the WSATI Southern Chapter's newest meeting venue... virtual.
Richard acted as the moderator of the Virtual Meeting and started with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Richard then introduced the guest speakers who would be giving presentations during the Virtual Meeting.
The presentation began with California Department of Insurance Detective Sergeant Rick Edmonson, currently assigned to the L.A. Auto Insurance Fraud Task Force. Rick spoke about how his task force is assigned cases, what they are looking for to ensure successful filings Los Angeles County, and some pitfalls to avoid.
Richard then introduced Orange County District Attorney Auto Fraud Team Deputy District Attorneys Steven Bunn and Stephen Tanizaki. They both spoke of legal requirements for filing of cases in Orange County.
Richard opened up the Roundtable Discussion. Due to questions regarding the "security" of the virtual meetings, meeting attendees were advised to not bring up confidential information. As such, Webmaster Gary Labb did not speak about the encrypted online networking roster and did not give the attendees the password to allow them access to the roster. The meeting was adjourned.
